Wait, do you want to tell me that there are rankings which restaurant is using the most antibiotics? Somehow, we got used to living with the fact that the US is the land of obesity. It’s not just this country, many others are having the same problem, but the US is right here on the top.
Too many people are consuming tons of calories along with sugar, saturated fats, and other substances hidden in their foods. I can say I’m happy because more and more people are making their first steps and efforts towards becoming healthy by eating healthier and inheriting other healthy habits.
According to recent rankings, the US is ranked #25 largest US fast food and restaurant chains based on practices of using most antibiotics in their diet.
Wait, what? Do restaurants use antibiotics in their meat?
For two years in a road, Panera Bread and Chipotle Mexican Grill are on the top scoring the A grade.
Approximately 80% of the antibiotics sold in the US are going for meat and poultry production. Most of them are used on healthy animals just to promote growth and prevent disease in unsanitary conditions.
What they probably don’t know, or know but don’t want to accept, is that the overuse of antibiosis in food results in antibiotic resistance. That’s real health threat.
According to the CDC, at least 2 million Americans are getting antibiotic-resistant infections every year. The American Academy of Pediatrics issues a warning how the overuse of antibiotics can make some harmful bacteria stronger and resistant to drugs that can cure them.
The F Ratings
Public health agencies declared the antibiotic resistance the top health threat in the US. If takeout or go-to restaurant is a must over the weekend or when you are tired, you would want to see it ranked with F grade for their antibiotic policies and practices.
These restaurants all have the rank F:
- Dairy Queen
- Buffalo Wild Wings
- Little Caesars
- Domino’s Pizza
- Burger King
- Jack in The Box
- Olive Garden
- Dunkin’ Donuts
They have the rank F because:
- The restaurants don’t have a policy on antibiotics use in their meat
- They have policies that allow for this routine of using most antibiotics in the production of the meat they offer
- These food chains keep all of us in the dark about the meat sourcing and origins
- They refuse to give any response for information regarding the antibiotics policies.
I have no further comments on this. I’m in shock.
Don’t forget to share this with all of your friends. Keep the warning going.
